Making this blog mine
Hello Readers,
I am pleased to announce I've rewritten this site according to my own designs. It's written in Clojure and deployed to a small server. I've made an effort to preserve URLs and Atom feeds. There are now new feeds available for sub-categories. If something is broken for you, please let me know.
While little has changed externally, the migration completes a significant personal goal. hpincket.com is my longest maintained software project. I'm proud that I set it up years ago and that I've maintained it so long. It's been with me for ten years and I plan to run it for as long as I am able. So it feels 'right' that it runs my bespoke creation.
Beyond the personal satisfaction, the rewrite opens the door for more possibilities. Over time I became frustrated with the limitations of a static site. No comments, no backend visitor metrics, no room for zany interactions beyond Javascript. A static site made sense when I was a college student with little money, but my financial situation has changed. These days the technical freedom justifies $5 a month. It doesn't matter that cheaper options exist.
And so we enter a new era. Perhaps this website will change in the coming months, perhaps it won't, but in any case it will be mine.
Cheers, Harrison
